Abstract Axerion Therapeutics (the grantee), established in 2009, is a private biotechnology company focused on developing therapeutics for neurological diseases and injuries. NIH awarded the grantee a Recovery Act grant of $3 million for research related to neurological recovery from spinal cord injury and stroke. The grant budget period is April 15, 2010, through March 31, 2013. As of March 31, 2011, the grantee had claimed $950,844 under the grant; we reviewed the total amount claimed by the grantee. Our objective was to determine whether costs claimed by the grantee were allowable under the terms of the grant and applicable Federal regulations.
