Abstract This report is the latest in a series on smokeless tobacco sales, advertising, and promotion that the Federal Trade Commission (Commission) has prepared since 1987. The statistical tables contained within this report provide information on domestic smokeless tobacco sales and advertising and promotional activities. Commission staff prepared these tables using information collected, pursuant to compulsory process, from the parent companies of the major manufacturers of smokeless tobacco products in the United States: Altria Group, Inc.; North Atlantic Trading Company, Inc.; Reynolds American, Inc.; Swedish Match North America, Inc.; and Swisher International Group, Inc. The 2009 figures also include sales and expenditure data for a joint venture between Swedish Match North America and Lorillard Tobacco Company.
