Abstract
|
Small businesses are important to the national and local economy, but their existence depends on their ability to access credit. Institutional depository lenders play a major role as suppliers of credit to small firms in the United States and have a key role in supporting the growth of these firms. The information in this report is useful to both small businesses in search of loans and to lenders interested in comparing their lending performance with that of their peers. This year's study, published by the Office of Advocacy, Small Business Lending in the United States, looks at small business lending in the context of an economy that appears to be emerging from the recession. It relies on two types of data based on reports made by depository institutions to their respective regulating agencies.
