Abstract Coaxial Helicity Injection (CHI) on the National Spherical Torus Experiment (NSTX) has produced 390kA of toroidal current without the use of the central solenoid. The ratio of the toroidal current to the injector current has reached 14. CHI discharge pulse lengths of up to 330ms were obtained.
