Abstract A volumetric neutron source (VNS) based on a steady state low aspect ratio DT spherical torus (ST) is being investigated by TSI Research, Inc. as a part of a USDOESBIR project. It is intended to provide a test bed for developing nuclear technologies as well as testing material and qualifying blanket designs for use in fusion devices.
