Abstract Process development activities associated with the upgrade of laser welding capability at the LANL, TASS, PF-4, facility are reviewed. As a Phase I activity, the existing pulse laser welding system for pit materials will be upgraded with a modern CW IPG fiber laser and a new CNC motion controller. A phase II activity update on the design of a new laser welding glove box to incorporate modern CNC motion with modern beam diagnostics and 5 axis tube welding capability will be provided. Electron beam welding capability is being reestablished in addition to CW fiber laser welding in support of next legacy system fabrication.
