Hexavalent chromium compounds are wonderful corrosion inhibitors. Hexavalent chromium compounds are toxic. We ve learned how to use them safely. It can be expensive to control, store, dispose. Liability issues always loom. National & international procedures and regulations are tightening. There are safer substitutes for some/many applications.
