Abstract
|
The overall goal of this project was to generate information to help improve the performance of titanium dioxide (TiO2) dispersal grenades used for visual obscuration. The study evaluated ways to improve the performance of TiO2 through the investigation of the impact of adsorbed water on the TiO2 obscuration performance and techniques for moisture removal, along with the evaluation of handling and packaging to maintain the dry state. Improvement would be manifested by increased obscurance and/or longer obscuration times for the same size grenade and the same volume and/or weight load of obscurant particles.
