Abstract In September 2010 a workshop on Mid-Infrared Fiber Lasers was held in Saint-Louis, France. Top researchers from around the world were invited to speak to over 28 attendees from government, industry, and academia. The workshop addressed fiber lasers and amplifiers with direct output at wavelengths > 3 microns, fibers for nonlinear frequency conversion into the mid- infrared (e.g. supercontinuum, raman) and improved fiber pump sources for bulk frequency conversion devices operating in the mid-IR.
