Abstract
|
A combined experimental and numerical work was conducted on the interaction between finite span synthetic jets and a 3-D cross-flow. We completed a series of experimental and numerical simulations of the interaction of the synthetic jets with a cross-flow over unswept and swept configurations. The results show that the interaction results in the formation of secondary flow structures that enhance mixing and increase the efficiency of flow control. We publish our finding in a JFM paper, a Physics of Fluids paper, and we submitted another paper to Experiments in Fluids. One MS student graduated, and a PhD student also has been working on this project.
